NYC Tax Photos
HI folks, I meant to post this a while back, but for anyone who might be on the market for a cool gift (I got this for my cousins after their childhood home was sold and a new building was put up in its place; I also got one for my parents home so they could see what it looked like in the "old days"!).

TAX PHOTOGRAPHS
Between 1939 and 1941, and again in the mid-1980s, the city photographed every house and building in the five boroughs. Photographic prints of these unique images are now available for purchase.

You can submit an address online and they'll search the records for the photo of the property - you can specify whether you want the 1940s version or the 1980s version, and it covers all 5 boros.
It's really cool and makes a great gift if you have a special address in NYC you're interested in.

This is so COOL! Thanks for sharing.
The architecture on these buildings is incredible.
And I can't help but look at the crime and criminal pictures.
Along the transportation shots.
I love old photos like these.

awesome! thanks so much for posting this! I just ordered both the 1940's and the 1980's pic for my inlaws. They are so hard to buy gifts for and i have a feeling they will really like this! we are going to save it for christmas and buy a nice frame to fit the 2 pics in. it's a pic of my FIL's parents house where he grew up, and where my inlaws started their family.

ooOo so glad you guys like this!!!
Camacho, you can't view the pics online (but you can see them at their library on microfilm) but I can honestly say the picture quality is GREAT. Also if they don't have the address you request they will refund your card automatically; also the site says 3-4 weeks for delivery but I recall I got mine in less than 10 days when i ordered them :)
