We have an 8th grade prom, of which half the kids who attend usually don't deserve to be there for whatever reason. They have it at the Botanical Garden and it's really nice.

LOL...a dance festival in my school is when teachers in K-2 teach their class a group dance and then perform it for the entire school and parents. Plus you have to make the costumes and do your own choreography....RIDICULOUS! Glad I am on childcare leave this year....hate dance festival and EVERYONE has to participate and some of the kids go crazy at practice because they dont want to do this...LOL!

This is what I meant. Pre-K - 5 choreograph a dance, get costumes and perform on one of the half days in June. We perform in front of the whole school and parents outside, so half the neighborhood watches as well. Hate it!

I don't teach in NYC, but I have to say that when I saw what this post was about, it made me  I was a product of NYC public schools, and this was my FAVORITE day every year. I can't believe it never occurred to me how much stress it must have been for my teachers.  I really feel for you now that I see it from this side. What they must have gone through with our utter lack of coordination!

Glad to hear that we are not the only school with dance festival madness!!! Lots of other schools do not do it...wish ours was one of them.....its such a headache!
