NYC teachers and STARS
Have you used this before? Any tips?
I logged on but my class hasn't been added yet.
We've made our own report cards in the past, so this is new for all of our staff. It might be better since each report card took a minimum of 40 minutes, but I don't know what to expect.

Do you mean STARS classroom? If your class isn't showing yet then your programmer hasn't fixed the teacher reference table yet in the STARS web app. It's pretty straight forward to do the grades. Like most DOE apps it's very Fisher Price.

I logged on but we are having a pd on it on monday. Hope it's quick and easy because the paper report cards were a BREEZE!!! I miss them!

It was annoying last year because they did not work out the kinks. For example changing the marking period each time you logged into the kid's name. I am hoping they changed all of these annoying things!

thanks for the replies...we were trained yesterday and it seems like the biggest problem will be the browser... i worked in safari, saved changes and when i signed in on chrome...nothing there. i'm going to type everything into a spreadsheet then copy and paste...hopefully that will work. :/

My friend and I created a spreadsheet to manually enter grades for this reason too!

Do NOT use Safair. Use either firefox or google chrome. Be prepared for the site to crash on Election Day because everyone and their mother will be on the site.
My old school did it last year. Also, make sure that you keep saving and that you are in the correct semester.

We're back to paper for this marking period. People spent their weekends and grades/comments were NOT saved. Crazy!!!
