NYC Teachers and UFT Meetings
Is anyone's UFT meeting held after school or during lunch periods? In my old school it was always during lunch. For the past two years in my new school it was during lunch too but we now have a new rep and she's doing it after school. I find it very unfair for people like me who can't ever stay after as I live an hour and a half away and have my child to pick up from Kindergarten after care. Just really wondering if anyone else's rep does it after school.

Yeah, I rarely stay either. Especially when we are late at school the night before.

when I was in the city, it was before school. some teachers really want their lunch to themselves so I imagine chapter leaders can't please everyone

It's also tricky when it's an extended day afternoon...

Ours is always 7:30am- school starts at 8.

Exactly...and I don't have a commute so I'm sure you and the other commuters soooo don't want to stay!

We only have them on PD days at lunch. We get detailed emails otherwise.

I'm a rep and mine are during lunch. We used to be able to do it before school but parking became impossible. I would never do it after school. Have people expressed to her that it's not so convenient?

When I taught we only did ours at lunch, though we had a few emergency meetings which were after school.

We don't have a choice. We don't have common lunch. It's a k-8 building.
