NYC Teachers- are you NOT entitled to FMLA? (X-post from teachers)
A girl in my childbirth class said she only gets 6 weeks leave in NYC. I thought according to FMLA a company with more than 100 employees you are entitled to 12 weeks of leave? When I say leave I mean leave where you keep your benefits.
Could it just be that the 6 weeks is for disability? I teach on LI- for my leave I don't collect disability; I use the days in my sick bank. I can take up to 12 weeks and still keep my benefits.

you are entitled to 6 or 8 weeks maternity leave that can be paid with your CAR.
You are also entitled to FMLA which is unpaid. but you keep your benefits.

I agree... I also heard if a dr. writes you a note saying you need longer for medical reasons then they allow you to us more days in your CAR then the 6 or 8 weeks.

the only days that are paid is what is in your car... you must empty that out first...you can borrow up to 20 days too i think, then you can go on a grace period ofr one month where u get paid weekends and holidays only...
