NYC teachers-can someone explain the salary steps to me!
I get very confused by the bottom bold section regarding the longevity parts. steps

What do you need to know?
You get 5 year longevity AFTER completing 5 years...so you get it in your 6th year.
Once you get to 8 b you stay on that for a few years until you complete your 10th year and then you get your 10 year longevity which you get really in the 11th year

You know I keep look at it...it says to add 1,000 to your salary...but the 5 year(in bold) looks like 10,000
ETA-It looks like they are adding 1,000 on to the 8b steps..

I don't know why the hell they did that but it makes no sense...but then again what in NYC does make sense right?? Let me ask DH (he is a NYC teacher too) and see what he thinks.
