What routine do you use for attendance? I know we have to have one

I just take attendance, mark it in the folder and send it down. I don't use it as "how many people are here today" and how many aren't. I do enough with them.

When I taught Kindergarten last year I did the how many people are here today, how many aren't, how many are absent, etc. Now in 2nd I think I am just going to have a pocket chart with who is here today and have themput int their name as part of the routine.

I have a chart with velcro and each child has their name on a half index card with velcro on the back. When they get to school they unpack and then move their name from the "At Home" side to the "In School" side. Then when we do attendance the monitor counds it up and we do the part/whole chart, where it says the total number of students on a top, and then we use post-its to put how many are present and how many are absent.

I have a chart with the register on top, the number of students present below (broken into boys and girls) and the difference at the bottom.
