NYC teachers who are pregnant or who are moms
What happened when you went out on maternity leave? Did they hire a leave replacement or just a day to day sub? How many weeks were you out???
NOT pregnant yet...just always wondered about these questions

Re: NYC teachers who are pregnant or who are moms
the first time i was out from basically the first week until early december and they had a sub who came every day. This time they had sub set for me starting 4/4 through JUne but i had to go out early so until 4/4 the kids have random subs. Maybe one for a few days then another for a few days. sucks for them but what can you do. HTH

Re: NYC teachers who are pregnant or who are moms
I am currently out on maternity leave. I've been out since January. They gave a teacher that was out in the beginning of the year for materity my classes. I left the same time she was coming back. Since I am not going back until the end of May she will just keep my classes and I will do other stuff.

Re: NYC teachers who are pregnant or who are moms
It's probably not a helpful answer, but I would think it depends on your principal. It probably also depends on the time of year. I will be leaving for the month of June (probably) and I don't know what my principal plans on doing.
But I would imagine that if there was a student teacher they were planning on hiring next year, they might leaves/he in my room with a day to day sub (that may change daily.) If there isn't a student teacher, then I think they might hire the same day to day sub that they would keep for the entire month.
I know in my school, there isn't one standard way to handle maternity leaves.
ETA: Actually- is there even such a thing as a "leave replacement" in NYC? Or is it that they just hire a sub and let them know that they will be there for a specific amount of time?

In my school, they put a sub or out of classroom teacher in for the entire leave.
