NYC Teachers with a DH working for the City too?
Can you have seperate insurance policies or must you combine to one.
Ex. My Dh is a city fireman with GHI. I am a teacher, with GHI. Can we each keep our own policy or must we combine to one. My dh says i need to give up mine. is he right?

I wouldn't think that you would need to give up yours since he's covered through FDNY and not the BOE. but really, i would tihnk that it would just be easier to be on the one... it's the same exact insurance anyway.... except the Rx and dental/vision is covered under the teacher's Welfare Fund, don't know what FDNY does for those.

you can give yours up, but you cant go on each others... it would be considered double dipping. my dh is nypd, he kept his insurance and i kept mine!
