NYPD Pba dental plan and braces
Does anyone know if they fully cover braces for dependent children? My coworker was told his out of pocket expenses was $1900 but I feel that is way too expensive for a job that's supposed to have great benefits. And he didn't receive any prior authorization from his insurance. This is just a preliminary amount the ortho told him it would be. thanks

NYPD Pba dental plan and braces
Braces are covered 100% if you use an in network orthodontist. Other stuff is not 100% covered. For example, my son needed a night brace and only a small percentage of that was covered. We paid about $1000 for the night brace. So, if your friends son needs a palate expander, a night brace, or other hardware, it might not be covered.
Also, I certainly don't think the pBA dental is awful. As long as you go to an in network dentist, everything is covered 100%! How much better can you get than that??

Yeah but there aren't a lot of GOOD doctors that accept healthplex.

Yes, you have to shop around a lot.
After a lot of shopping around, we have settled with Vitagliano Orthodontics in West Islip, That Broadway Smile in Massapequa, and Lindenhurst Bay Dental in Lindenhurst. We've gone through probably 10 crappy providers to get to this point.

Thanks for that info! I didn't realize that broadway smile takes healthplex. We are on our approximately 5th crappy provider here :)

Me neither!
I could of sworn I called and they didnt since its literally 5 min away, ugh.
I use Melville Dentisty (its peds too) and they have been wonderful to work with.
They have an ortho there as well.

They just started taking it maybe a year ago. My dd needed 6 cavities filled and we haven't paid a dime. And the sweet air is included too.
