OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
Ok, so last night I was chatting with a good friend (aka Katie--Couponmom) and I think I may want to find a new OB/GYN. Now, I love my practice (Contempary Womens Care in Smithtown) BUT: -too far...I commute to NYC and it takes too long to get there -hate the appointment lady -always ALWAYS running late (their appointments) -won't do sono & appointments at the same time
Now since I commute, I would like to find somewhere closer to home. I also know that if I find somewhere in the Holbrook area, they may be with Stony Brook (which I'm ok with).
So any recommendations? Here is my critera: -MUST have tons of doctors -MUST have late evening & weekend appointments -MUST be able to do sono & appointments the same time (or same day within a half hour of each other).
I'm not TTCing yet, but will be in 2011 and my annual is due in April so I'd like to make the appointment knowing there might be a wait.
Thanks!

I go to dr Kasten in Oakdale. Love him. He is the only dr there but does have late hours and sat morning hours. He delivered my niece and nephew.

Re: OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
I go to Suffolk OB/GYN. They have an office in Patchogue. Right off Sunrise, probably not even 10 mins from you.
They are affiliated with St. Charles though. (don't know if you prefer StonyBrook)
Tons of doctors and late appointments. All my sonos and appts were on the same day within a half hour of each other.
FM if you want Dr recommendations.
ETA - the office is around the corner from Brookhaven hospital.

Re: OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
I used Oakdale OBGYN. They have 3 doctors- so I wouldn't say it's TONS of Dr's but I never had an issue. They have late appts and EARLY morning - like 7 am or so. I don't think they do many weekend appts for their OB patients though. They do sono's onsite- they have a tech and you can book the sono the same day as the appt. They deliver at Southside. I loved the practice and Southside.

To add to that, they have two RNs that do annual check-ups as well. I've seen one of them, LOVE HER, and I've heard great things about the other one.

Re: OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
I use Three Village Women's Health and really like them. The Patchogue office is smaller, so its not crazy with waiting for appointments, etc. I haven't been with them for a pregnancy yet, but my cousin was very happy through hers. I previously used Suffolk OBGYN and wasn't thrilled. I loved the doctors I used, but finally got tired of waiting an hour or more for an evening appointment each time I went in.

I don't have a recommendation for Holbrook, but switched from CWC for many of the same reasons as you- especially the ridiculously long waits. However, I did always have the sonos and dr. appts at the same time.

I go there and always had sonos and appts back to back for both my pregnancies. I agree about the wait at times. I always tried for early appts to avoid it! It is def very annoying!!

Re: OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
I go to Obstetrical & Gynecological specialties (Dr. Marin is my Primary).
They have an office in the same building as CWC but they also have one in Stonybrook (not sure if that is too far for you though!).
I know that they used to do cross coverage with CWC (not sure if they still do) and that they deliver at St. Catherine's and Stonybrook.

Re: OB/GYN rec's in the Holbrook area
thanks!! I think St. Charles is too far for us as well as Southside.
Sayville is ok for the office. I may call around. Any other recs, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks!
***And just FYI, CWC used to do sono/apt same time/day, but they changed this when I was 9 months preggos. My friend delivered after me and had the same issue.

That's weird because my kids are 2 and 4 months old (just had her in July) and I had sonos and appts together the whole time for both pregnancies. If you like them, maybe call and ask about it? But if you're switching anyway I guess it doesn't matter. My friend uses and loves a practice in Patchogue, I think its called SV obgyn? They deliver at SB

Kerry - St Charles isn't much further then Stony Brook. Just about 10 mins. I prefer St Charles - smaller and no students
ETA - when DH had to go to the ER over the summer, we purposely went to St. Charles to avoid Stony Brook and long waits.

Stony Brook has all private rooms, and I decided I would not deliver at a Catholic hospital due to their views on saving a baby before saving a mother.
I go to Stony Brook Associates in Ob/Gyn. Tons of drs., and not bad wait times most of the time. Sonos were always right before my appts.
