Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
I really think its a personal decision. I tend to like less, my son goes to a doctor who is on his own. I interviewed the practice down the block that comes really highly rated and it was very convenient (7 days a week, long, late hours, never closes on holidays- I work so those components were a bonus), but they had 5 or 6 doctors with physician's assistants. I wanted them to know me and my child well and felt with a big practice, that might not happen.

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
there are 2 drs and 2 assistants at my drs office. i prefer having a few so there are more hours available instead of having to go to the hospital.

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
My son goes to a practice that has multiple doctors, like six or seven, but he sees the same one each time. If for some reason his primary isn't in, then he would see someone else, but in eight years that has happened once. My daughter's ped. is also a mutiple doctor practice and she has seen the same one each time.

The practice I use has 4 doctors. We have seen them all but there is one that my kids like a little less. My general sense is that 3 or 4 physicians is average for a pediatric practice.

Same with ours.
Sick call you get who ever is doing it that day.

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
My ped is alone. I like it b/c there are no conflicting views between doctors in the office, I also like that he knows me and my dc personally. It's a personal decision though, there are many multiple dr offices that are great

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
Our ped is on his own. He has coverage when he is on vacation, but even during off-hours, I have his home phone #, so I'm never worried about not being able to get a hold of someone.

My ped is on her own also. Her office is actually part of her house and their have been times where I have called on a saturday or sunday and even late at night and she has answered the phone. When DS had his first virus she was constantly calling to check up on him.

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
My practice has 3 and I'm comfortable with that number -- it means good hours because of the extra coverage while still small enough that I know each of them and am comfortable with whoever we get for a sick visit. (Well visits scheduled ahead of time are always our main doctor.)

Re: # of doctors at your pediatricians office
My practice has 6 doctors. I schedule well visits with one of them, but I guess it's a gamble who you'll get in the event of sickness. 2 of them I've seen 1x in 20 months. I'd probably prefer a somewhat smaller practice, but they came well-recommended and I am happy with them thus far.
