Office Pets
Does anyone have a pet at their office? I am tempted to get a Beta fish for my desk but am worried about changing the water and the upkeep.
I'm contemplating getting a frog. Wierd topic I know but I would love to have something with me at work....

We have a turtle in a 20 gallon tank. But we are a lab that studies hearing, and we tried to train the turtle for research. But she wasn't a good worker, so now she's just a pet. I love sharing my fruit with her, and to give her exercise I let her run around in my office!

how often do you have to feed them? can you leave them at the office over the weekend without worrying that they will die?

I have had betas at my desk. Only thing that bugged me was that I had to change the water at least once a week. But they are nice company

you put an algae packet in the water and they farm it themselves. In the three years I haven't feed them once.

I figured that. They are little to no work the most I have done is added water to the tank. Plus if they die I have tons (we use them for research).

Re: Office Pets
I have 4 betas!! FOUR different tanks and I love them to pieces!!!!!!!!!!!
eta... actually.. as of tomorrow I will only have 3. I am leaving my job and took 3 home. A friend from work "adopted" one of them LOL
Here they are.. as you can see from their tanks, they are a lil spoiled Never in my life did I think I would do this for a FISH!
If the upkeep worries you, just know that I can change all 4 tanks in less than 10 min! Having one would be a piece of cake! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Office Pets
We had a guy at my last job that couldn't technically be considered human.
I suppose that would count as a office pet. He never really ate anything... he just fed off the misery of others.
I suggested that we put him down - because a few of us were allergic to his greasy hair.

The office tank I got at Marshalls and the other one I got from the website fantaseas.net
I doubt Marshalls has it anymore since I got it over 7 months ago.. but I did find it on this website.. click here and I know Target.com has it too.
