Oh good God... kill me now....
This teething thing is HELL!!!!
When he is not sleeping he is crying... inconsolably crying.... and then he cries so much he starts coughing....
Its getting to the point where there snothing I can do for him anymore - I have him in his bouncy seat right now crying next to me - I have tried all my tricks that get him to stop- nothing... he doesnt want to eat, when I hold him he pushes at me and squirms... toys arent doing anything, he doesnt want his swing.... I tried reading him books which usually make him giggle... playing with his feet,....

Well...looks like Noggin to the rescue... again.
I just put it on - Jack's music show or something?
He stopped crying immediately!!!
So much for needing his mommy. Guess he just wants TV

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
I am so sorry. Its rough! Bryan had a 2 hour fuss time last night..Nothing worked. I finally put him in the carriage and went for a walk. Seemed to calm him down a little.
Does he like teething rings? Cold Washclothes?
I just bought Bryan Baby Orajel Swabs. They seem to help a bit too.

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
i think I'm in the minority around these parts, but I let DD watch Play with Me Sesame and the Wiggles (those are the only 2 shows she seems to like)...and I honestly see nothing wrong with some TV/day... She sings/claps/dances along and I don't know what the big deal is... I remember watching a lot of TV as a kid and I turned out OK!

I tried all the things in his mouth - he hated the rings, I tried the frozen washcloth, wet washcloth - he just makes these yuck faces and looks at me like I'm crazy.
The orajel I'm not sure if it does anything - I tried it, but he hates the taste and cries about that....
I have to say, some of the music on this show is cool - there are these 2 hip hop type guys playing violin - its good!!! I discovered Cailen likes fiddle music at the folk fest we were just at...

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
have you asked your Dr if it's ok to give Motrin yet? since it's anti-inflammatory, it helps with the swelling of the gums as well as the general pain.
Unfortunately Aly was a good teether....

No - I totally agree that some in moderation is ok, but I wanted to save it for when I couldnt play with him - like when I have to shower or do errands.... I posted how passive he gets when he watches TV and he's still so young, but know what? He stopped screaming the way he was for the last 30 mins, so I guess anything is better than that - and its all musc and dancing which we expose him to a lot of the time anyway...

Ask your Ped. about the Infant Motrin. It helps with the swelling which is what is most painful. Plus, you can usually switch off between Tylenlol and Motrin. Also, stick some of his pacifiers in the freezer and let him s@ck on them. Also, frozen wash clothes work well.

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
just a thought - are you 100% sure it is teething?? I know every child is different and you know him best - but it sounds like he is pretty uncomfy even with tylenol...If it continues I would prob. have him checked out just to make sure its not anything else...that is what I would do at least.

He was at the dr. yesterday because he had fever and diarrhea and I wanted to make sure it was just from teething.
It was.

No - I can understand why you asked, but I am super vigilant about calling the dr. and getting there when i'm concerned about something.... I kept asking if this was only teething as well because he has been so miserable, but alas, it is....

If the TV is what works for him now thats OK...as he feels better he will probably not be as interested...I know when I don't feel well I just like to curl up on the couch and watch TV

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
sorry! DD is also teething and we are having some rough nights as well. She threw away her teething ring as if to say 'ah you amateur!!'. I've been nursing her a lot more than i'd like at night, as I think she just likes to snuggle up and it sort of comforts her. But Mommy is getting no sleep!
I've been giving her tylenol almost every night. I'm hoping its not too bad for her!!!
I hope this passes soon for both of us!

Re: Oh good God... kill me now....
Did they give you anything for him? Did they check his ears. Usually the doctor will NOT say it's due to teething. They refuse to believe that teething causes diareah and fevers, which we all know it DOES, but most docs say it doesn't. I just hope he doesn't have a bug.
I agree that he seems a bit too uncomfy even with the Tylenol.

his ears were just rechecked since he had an ear infection 2 wks ago...
I think its mostly from being tired, the crankiness - he went for a few nights with not sleeping well...
