Oh holy grossness!!! Thermometer in mouth!

DD has had a fever for the past 24 hours. I came home from work and the nanny said she was getting warm again. I took her temp (rectal temp but barely inserted the tip) and it was 104. I got nervous and lost my train of thought bc I wanted to call the doctor...so I placed the thermometer next to me to pick up the phone and in 2 seconds DD had it in her mouth!!!! I quickly grabbed it out but iwww!!!! Is this coxsackie waiting to happen?? Please tell me I'm not the only parent this has happened to. Ugh. Anything I should look out for???? Iw. Oh and the jokes have already begun with my sisters...I don't see the humor just yet.

PS took her to doc and she has strep throat unrelated to nasty thermometer incident!

oh jeez. Kids do the strangest things. lol. When DD has a blowout sometimes I find it really difficult to take care of it on my own because she's 4 months and wants to grab everything - including her diaper. So when she's laying on that changing table it's sometimes work keeping her hands away from any ickyness

I'm sure she'll be fine. Sorry about the strep throat though
