Oh, man, let's just say our super is not so super right now!
We were watching DH's parents dog for about 4 days. It was during my vacation so the dog was not left alone at all. This was over 2 weeks ago. Well, today, we get a certified letter from the management company stating that we were harboring a dog and that if we don't get rid of it, they will take legal action and we will incur all costs.
I am steaming right now. See, here's the thing. The woman right below us has a chihauha yipping all day long! She moved in 8 months ago, her dog barks incessently (sp) and whether it's hers or she is watching it for someone (which if that's the case, she watches this dog every single month), well, did SHE get a letter? This little dog can be heard from all the floors b/c it's right at her day yapping away.
I am so pi$$ed at the super right now.

I would write him back and state that you did not know you were not allowed to babysit a dog since neighbor #___ has a dog or a permanent basis and the reason you are aware of this is because of the constant barking from this dog.
I would also write that you will need to see the "dog policy" and why she qualifies as being OK but your are not even temporarily.

We are def. writing back. First of all, I think before going to the management, the super should have gotten his facts straight. That is what inscenses (sp) me the most. And to be honest, I think he must *hear* the dog in the apartment below us and since he saw me walking my IL's dog one morning, he MUST have assumed something else.
Trust me, I know there are rules and we follow them. I'm not looking for excuses or justifying anything. Simply put, my IL's had a choice. Board the dog or send her to us. And to be honest, I would do it again. It just infuriates me when my neighbors and myself have problems, like with heat or hot water and there is no immediate action.

my neighbors got evicted b/c they were dog-sitting.
my complex allow cats - for an additional monthly fee, but no dogs whatsoever.

How annoying!!
Does your complex allow dogs? The tenant below could have a dog rider in her lease wherein she paid an extra deposit and a monthly fee to have the dog.
