OH NO!! Passport problem - I think!!
I booked our trip to Punta Cana knowing that we both had passports and that they are now required. HOWEVER - I forgot that my passport is still in my maiden name!
Everything is booked in my married name. Am in big trouble?? Or can I just bring a copy of my marriage certificate along as proof?

You MAY be able to get away with that but to be honest, I would just pay to have my passport expedited just to be safe. You never know whether or not the counterperson is going to be having a good day and let you slide.

Re: OH NO!! Passport problem - I think!!
I have travelled in Europe before with my passport in one name and my ticket in another. It wasn't a problem at the time, I called the airline and told them and they said I should bring a copy of my marriage certificate with me, I did that and I was fine.
I woud call the airline and ask them if that solution would be okay!

Honestly, I think you should bring your marriage certificate. That's what I did. I traveled under my married name and my passport is in my maiden name. I just showed the marriage certificate.

I am in the same situation as you! I am travelling in November so I am going to pay for expedited service and have my passport changed before then. DH just renewed his and he got his new one in about 2 weeks so I am confident I will have it by November!

Don't you have to go into the city to do this though?
I called the airline back to verify that I need the original marriage certificate and not a copy and I got someone different and he said that I also need my birth certificate. Now I'm worried again.
ETA: I just read that I can't do Expedited service - it takes 2 - 3 weeks.

Sure you can! I've used travisa before.
Here is the link right to the page. You can get same day service for $179 plus the fees associated with getting a name change.

I wouldnt worry about this as much as Id be worried about customs in DR and back in the US.
I was going through a similar situation and was told that would be where it would get hairy.. not necessarily checking into my flight or hotel.
