Oil Company Contracts
We are moving into the house this Sat, the Seller filled the tank up the day before closing so I know I am good for a little while, but how much longer should I wait to sign a contract with someone?
I have been calling companies and getting some prices and I am meeting Slomins on Sat for a price.
I heard Oil is really high now and I am just afraid the longer I wait, the higher it is going to go.

Re: Oil Company Contracts
I would do it ASAP as prices are on the rise and we are heading into colder weather.
I waited because we also had a full tank and regret it. We are still at over 3/4 but we had to have someone in to service it and lost my chance to shop around.

Re: Oil Company Contracts
I'd lock in now before the winter prices take effect.
We went with Petro - they had serviced the burner before us and had installed it, too. They also offered the most affordable service contracts, and we had a ceiling plan for oil.
We closed on our house in Jan. '07. The week before, during a visit, we saw the oil level was WAY low, below the last line. We didn't want the pipes to freeze and no one was living in the house. The REA spoke with the owner and they said it was okay for us to schedule a delivery and have us pay for it. Well, the seller went behind our back and filled up the tank before us, so we owed him at closing, and Petro came in and filled up to the top line and called us asking why we were so afraid, so we looked liked nutty people, but explianed the situation. We've been dealing with them ever since and have been very happy.

Re: Oil Company Contracts
We met with Slomin's on Tues and the price was $2.69 and he said he had just been notified that the price for Wed was going to be $2.79. Also, there is a coupon in Value magazine for Slomin's for 5cents off per gallon so your lock-in rate would be 5cents less.

Re: Oil Company Contracts
IF you dont need the service contract oil can be a lot cheaper if you just call when you need oil...
