Ok- I am Disney Impaired

Help! I have a bunch of questions...

TICKETS
I am trying to figure out the ticket situation-- can you buy tickets there or is it much more money rather than buying them in advance? I'd only need about 3 days-- and I am not sure what the tickets actually give you access to.

THINGS TO DO
As an adult, who will mostly be doing stuff on my own, with the exception of Saturday when I guess we'll do rides and stuff (Space Mountain here I come!!), What else will I want to do there (besides spa)? Do I need a ticket for everything?

RESTAURANTS
Suggestions please!

MUST NOT MISS
What should we not miss when we are there? We'll get in late on Friday night, and I will leave late Tuesday afternoon.

THANKS GIRLS!!!

Re: Ok- I am Disney Impaired

I went with my husband a couple of years ago

TIX: I would buy them in advance rather than get them there - it can get sooo crazy with all the kids but you CAN buy them there if you want.

You can get park hopper passes , but depending how long you are going for , individual tix may be better. I would start off going to Magic Kingdom and Epcot

WHAT TO DO: I'm sure there are other things to do , but we just went for the parks so we went to Magic Kingdom, there is a firework show every night. Also Epcot may be fun. There is also Paradise Island (I think that is the name) for Adults, - it's bars and restaurants and stuff - we were too tired to attempt going there

RESTAURANTS: Don't know - we ate in the parks...go to Epcot and just pick all day at all the different countries' cuisines -

MUST NOT MISS:
I would say the classics in MK:
small world, space mountain, the briar patch ride or something or other was actually very fun, then can't remember if the Hall or Presidents is in MK or Epcot & Carousel of Progress, I liked. Epcot in general , I liked. And go to the MK for the firework show and the parade at night.

also MGM but I was there a long time ago so I am no help there.

When we were there DH was sick one day and really just wanted to stay in and rest. So, I went shopping :)
I went to all the stores in the Magic Kindgom and Downtown Disney. I also jumped on the monorail at the Magic Kindgom and went to the stores in the Polynesian, Contemporary and Grand Floridian. I turn into a child when I go to Disney, so I was content spending the day walking around shopping at my own pace.

Re: Ok- I am Disney Impaired

I haven't been there in a few years, but some things not to miss: Its a Small World and Space Mountain.

As for tickets, you can get them at any Disney store or online. I went to the Disney store and they were able to explain the different ones to me.

Nighttime, we went to Downtown Disney, which Paradise Island is a part of. They have a comedy club, dance club, a cirque du soleil show there, and restaurants and shops. All the stores and stuff there are open during the day too (well, obviously! Chat Icon )

TICKETS:
There are two types of tickets:

Regular/One Park per day tickets which is just that. You can only go to one park on any given day. You are able to leave and come back to the same park on the same day.

Park Hopper Tickets which allows you to go in and out of different parks on each day.

They can be purchased at the front desk when you check in or in advance.
Off hand, I don't know if there are any specials going on. I am pretty sure HarleyGirl/Melisssa is a certified Disney Specialist and can help you with reservations and park passes.

THINGS TO DO:
There are a bunch of tours you can take. So far I took the Segway tour in Epcot and the Keys to the Kingdom tour at the Magic Kingdom and would recommend both. Park admission is required for a lot of them so you would need to plan accordingly if you don't get park hopper passes.

Shopping at Downtown Diseny.

I am a big baby and don't like doing things by myself too much but I would enjoy touring the World Showcase at Epcot alone.

Re: Ok- I am Disney Impaired

There's a new ticketing structure. The more days you buy, the less it is per day. They allow you into one park of your choosing per day. You can add a "park hopper" option for $45 (IMO, worth it, but ti depends on what kind of vacationer you are), and for I think $35 you can amke your ticket ahve no expiration, so if you plan to go back you can buy many days and get the multi-day discount.

Depending on what time of year you go, packages are cheaper and they add some benefits you might enjoy.

I like The Magic for Less Travel

They will book your trip and automatically change the reservation if a cheaper price comes out. We used them when we were AP holders and I got tired of calling every day to get the AP rate, so I booked a room, told them I had an AP, and the day they AP rates came out, they got me into a nicer hotel for even less money.

I have a whole disney thread somewhere that I can try to bump for you. It includes "can't miss" things, but somethings are a little out of date.

Tickets: We bought them at our hotel and it went smoothly.

Things to Do: Downtown Disney. You do not need a ticket for the bus, you just wait for the appropriate one and get on it.

Restaurants: Go to the ones in your hotel, every hotel has nice restaurants.

Re: Ok- I am Disney Impaired

I think you said your DH is at a conference at Disney if that is the case they will have discounted park tickets for sale to the conference attendees and their families.

Re: Ok- I am Disney Impaired

we bought tix ahead of time, it was worth it to avoid lines.
great place to eat, fulton's crab house in downtown disney.
when you go to downtown disney, the 2 best stores, IMO are world of disney and the xmas store.
if i was by myself, i'd go to seaworld or animal kingdom, i could spend all day in either place - i love animals.
i can't think of the name of it, but the laser show that mgm has at night was awesome.
