Ok i SERIOUSLY need help withmy 9 1/2monthold nightwakings.
Ok i have to retype this i thoughti did a double post but ididnt UGHHHHH...
Ok my son was sick the first few weeks of january and ended up in the hospital overnight form 1/14-1/15 for dehydration. Ever since he has been home he has been waking at night and wants to be held. At first we thought he was hungry and my dh insisted onfeedinghim. Once I went to the dr this past froday and she said there is no reason a 9 1/2 month old needs to be fed in the middle of the night my dh stopped. He will wake at around 3 3:30 and just wants to be held. H e also wakes a few time sin the night before 3 and he si aboe to self sooth after like 30 seconds to aminute so i jknow he can do it. How do i break this habit.

Re: Ok i SERIOUSLY need help withmy 9 1/2monthold nightwakings.
My daughter is 9.5 months too- and we are having the SAME problem.
She wakes up and is trying to go back to sleep but can't and wants to be held.
i am dying of sleep deprivation.
Last night I started a modified CIO. I go in, pick her up, snuggle her next to my face for 10 seconds, say I love you, put her down, rub her back for ten seconds and walk out. She cries- I let her cry for 5 minutes, repeat. She cried herself to sleep on the 5th time last night...... I am hoping if i stay consistent this will improve by the end of the week. I can't sleep in the rocking chair anymore. But I miss the snuggling......but I have to be a mom to my 2 year old too and I need a little sleep to be a good mom.

Re: Ok i SERIOUSLY need help withmy 9 1/2monthold nightwakings.
If your son is still sort of sick, I wouldn't do CIO. I know my DS often wakes at night when he is sick, and once he is feeling better, he sleeps better again. He usually is very stuffed up though, or woke himself coughing and needs to be held to get back to sleep. Since it's temporary, and I figure he's not feeling well, I hold him.
If you don't feel comfortable with CIO yet, you could try going in the room and soothing him (without picking him up). Rub his back or neck if he likes that, and talk to him a little. Don't feed him anymore though, he may have become used to that. If he's still dehydrated, maybe a little water?

The Squish is 8 1/2 months old and we are going through this also. We have started CIO this week and so far he only woke up crying at 12:30am last night and then was up at 6:15am. For him and his every 2 hours this is an improvement. We had a hard time doing CIO with my daughter with him it is working. Hopefully by the end of the week we can really sleep

I know it's hard, but i think CIO (cry it out) might be your only solution.
