Ok. I think I'm back on the TTC bandwagon. And a question.

Had a nice talk with DH last night about sex, babies etc.

We have a GREAT relationship. But because of, just circumstances, we haven't BD in almost a year. So I spoke to him about it.

Well, the conversation went great and feel better today than I did yesterday. I told him how I felt, even though it may be what HE feels. But in the end, we both agreed and it was a really good convo.

One thing we talked about is being scared. The overwhelming feeling was "wow, we can't even leave this thing home for 20 min for years. We can with the dog....".
It's just a VERY overwhelming feeling that you will be responsible for this little life for a minimum of 18 years.

That's a long time. It's just a very daunting thing to stare down and be ready for.

We are and we know it. We have the skills. We have money. We are moving into a 4 bedroom home. We are stable, we are a team. We have a great relationship and are in it for the long haul. And we have grandma and grandpa 15 min away who offered to babysit ANYTIME. so we have support.

So we are ready. Scared, but ready.

Has anyone else felt like this?

Yes, I have. My fears were slightly different but some the same. I also had the fear of our relationship changing (which I know it will in some way) but got through that fear and realized we are strong enough to handle it and will work around the changes so that will still remain the same in some ways.

I also had thoughts about..."i am really happy with my life"...am I going to be just as happy.

Also, I cant "imagine" myself being a mom and it scared me.

Now, I am fully on the ttc wagon and SO ready to have a baby. I am so excited and want it so badly!!

When I got to the point where I am at, I realized that I was truly overwhelming myself with too much at once. Like anything, if you think about the next 18 years all at once, its WAY to much for anyone to take. So, when I got to a not-scared place, I had been thinking of baby steps rather than what I had been thinking previously. It helped a lot and like I said, now I am ready and super excited.

It really does sound like you had an awesome conversation and that is great that you are ready and you know logically that everything is in place so now its just about making it happen! Good luck!!! Welcome!


Eta: There are still slight parts of me that are scared, only because its the unknown but yes like you said, Scared but ready.

Yes definitely!! I was definitely scared to have the talk with DH but surprisingly it turned out better than I thought. I will say that we were both very scared because we know its a life changing event for the better but it was no longer going to be just us two.

When I got pregnant and then miscarried it was definitely an eye opener and made me and DH realize that this is something that we want so much. No matter what fears we have we are ready for a baby.

So yes it's normal to be scared but you and your DH seem to have everything set and are on the same page so just enjoy the process of ttc and try not to worry. Wishing you tons of luck!!!

Yes. Still. And I already have a DS! It is completely normal. And, you know what, I think the best parents are ones who have these thoughts because it is a VERY big deal to bring a child into this world - the fact that you and your DH understand the gravity of the situation is only a good thing
