Ok, I think this is it!-FINAL UPDATED
I posted a few weeks back about a dog I was contemplating on getting. Well, I thought about it and she was adopted by someone else. Well, I am happy to say that I found a new dog and fell in love with her as soon as I saw the picture on petfinder. I emailed the rescue a few times and I got a call today that they want to set up a home visit and if all goes well, we can pick her up next week (she's in Jersey). I am SO happy. I'll post pics when I know it's final. She is an adorable lab/boxer mix and she is about 10 wks. old.
Now, has anyone had to have a home visit before adopting a dog & is there anything I should know? Thank you very much to everyone who has offered advice. You have been wonderful!
UPDATE:
So I had my home visit last night and I got the call today that we were approved to adopt!! I'm so excited. We are going to NJ this weekend to get her. We have to choose between 2 sisters.
FINAL UPDATE:
Thanks everyone! OK, we're back from NJ. We picked up our baby girl and we are completely IN LOVE! She is the cutest, swetest thing ever. It was really hard to choose between her & her sister, but I think we made the perfect decision. Working w/ the foster mom/shelter was great, I would never do it any other way! We struggled on what to name her & suddenly it came to us. She is named after the place we got her, her name is Jersey! I'll post new pics as soon as I can!

honestly, i think the home visit is just to make sure that your house is inhabitable and that you aren't a raving lunatic. and if you have other animals, they want to see how they live and how you interact with them. so i wouldn't worry about it!

my aunt runs a rescue for bichons, and she does home visits. she really just looks to see the house, the see that you didn't lie on your application ( about having a fenced in yard, having other pets, young kids, etc), likes to see the neighborhood to see if there is a nice place for you to walk to dogs or a park nearby, etc....
its really just to meet you and see a little bit of how you live  good luck, and let us know how it goes!!!

SHE IS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!! Love her name (my best friend lives in Vegas her cat had kittens we brought one home for my aunt and she named him Vegas  )
