Ok, I think we are doing Williamsburg...
After researching many different options... I think we are going to head to Colonial Williamsburg-- as dorky as that sounds, but I have always wanted to go.
Flight is cheap, we can use the Delta companion ticket and we found a cheap hotel room-- even though I would have preferred to stay at the Williamsburg Inn (@ $359/night), but we are trying to do this on the cheap!
So, besides the obvious, any tips on what to do there would be great! We'll be there from Fri to Sun.

Do NOT stay at the Country Inns and Suites in Williamsburg. Small and grubby!
But have a great time! My all time fav restaurant, Trellis, is in Williamsburg right over by the College of William & Mary. They have seasonal menus and the food is fantastic. The chef created "Death By Chocolate" We also liked walking around the college campus.

Re: Ok, I think we are doing Williamsburg...
We are going in a few days. We are staying at The Mulberry Inn in Newport News. It was far less $$ then the hotels right in Williamsburgh and got a great review online. It also included a hot breakfast. I could not see spending 300.00 plus a night to sleep and shower, I wanted a clean room , and a safe area. We are thinking of going on a boat tour of the harbor, Busch Gardens, seeing a reenactment of the war, etc. we are definately eating at a restuarant that is like Colonial times. I will give full reprt when I get back. FM mail me if you want to.

Re: Ok, I think we are doing Williamsburg...
As of now we are booked in at the Marriott at Ford Colony. I am still trying to lobby for the Williamsburg Inn though-- I really want to stay there! But, we will be going on our official babymoon a couple of weeks later, so this was just a weekend to spend as little money as possible, but experience something new.
As for the amusement parks-- I normally love them, but I don't think I'll be able to partake since I am pregnant.
Has anyone been to the spa in Williamsburg?

thanks-- I just looked at the menu, and the fine print says that they would do a veggie entree, which is not easy to find in travel destinations like this.
DH loooooooves chocolate, so maybe this is a spot to check out.

No maybes, DEFINITELY go there if you can! Even just go for dessert, it's worth it. The Cheese Shoppe is good for lunch too, they have great sandwiches. I'd say hit the Williamsburg Winery, but maybe not since you're pregnant Oh, and for a good snack in the summertime, they have this little stand on the side of the road called Sno To Go - soo good! They have a stuffed snow cone that's mixed soft serve ice cream with slushee-type flavored stuff. Just get on Richmond Rd./rt. 60 and head away from town (east) - it'll be somewhere on the right side of the road.
Food aside, there are ghost tours in the evening, and you can go check out Yorktown and Jamestown too. Virginia Beach is only about an hour & a half away, but you might not have time since you're just doing a long weekend.

OMG that Cheese Shop had THE best sandwiches ever!
We also went to the Kings Arms Tavern in Williamsburg. We had dinner by Candlelight it was very nice and the food was good. They also had great tours. I think we also sat in on a colonial trial at the court house and they ask for audience participation. I think it was a witch trial but I can't remember. I love Williamsburg
