I know that you are supposed to keep infants in socks or barefoot, but now that it is fall, I need to get some type of shoes for DS.

What is sizing like and what types do you BTDTs recommend? My friend just mailed me a pair of Nikes from Itay but the size makes NO sense to meChat Icon

TIA

they are size 1 -4 for infants. or some stores (like childrens place) do 0-6 mths, 6-12 mths sizing. Honestly, I always had DD in socks as in infant and only bought shoes for dress up on holidays like xmas.

You can get Robeez type shoes, they have size like 6-12, 12-18 months.

I bought some size 1's for Emma, but they are still too big. She has little feet though. Target has a bunch of cute little man shoes in the bins at the end of the shoe aisle.

Get them at Target - they are like 1/2 the price - your DS will rip them off and wind up only in socks anyway. Chat Icon

Why do you "need" to get shoes for the fall? Both of our DC never had shoes until they started walking. Extra socks, sure, but not shoes. I think two pair of socks would be warmer than socks and shoes. Socks are pretty good insulators.

Because honestly I was speaking about the weather getting colder, when it is 30 degrees and snowing out, I would like the option of something more substantial on his feet when we are outside. I agree that socks are good insulators, but at the same time, they get wet, if we are out and about a lot, I'd like a pair of shoes. No offense, but why does it matter to you why I would want to put shoes on my child's feet? For short periodsof time it isn't going to hurt him.

Thank you to the people who suggested the Robeez like shoes at Target I am going to give them a look next time I am there.Chat Icon

Remember those brown shoes I was telling you about, the ones I was dying to put on him...still haven't because the weather was getting warm and now I am afraid they won't fit Chat Icon

Now with fall coming I am looking forward to getting a pair or two to dress him up in when we go out. As far as sizing...I know Stride Rite has the prewalkers and the sizing (which is on the back of each box) goes by age. Lucas is long and has long feet so I think it's going to be trial and error - just have to put them on him to see at this point.

Let me know if you find anything cute!

No offense taken. It doesn't really matter, I was just mentioning that shoes aren't mandatory for winter. The socks getting wet is a valid reason for getting shoes. I was just giving an option. Shoes won't hurt DC, but I know that DD doesn't like shoes (neither did DS). For our DC, they were much happier with extra socks, until they got used to the shoes.

What about those soft suede sole shoes? There are not really shoes but there are just made of leather. I got some at target.

Just an example
