Big mommy underwear, especially not bikini if there could be a c-section scar. (We all hope to not have a c-section, but it happens) She also needs maxi pads as many hospitals only have the pads that go with the belts. They slip all over the place and feel like pillows between the legs. A thin bathrobe from Walmart or Target, just to cover when roaming the halls or when having visitors. Nursing bras or nursing tanks if she plans on nursing.

I brought my Boppy and a blanket for the baby. I was glad to have my own pillow.

They still make belted pads? The last time I think I saw one of those was circa 1975 when my sister left for college.

I gave birth to my DS at New York Methodist Hospital and they did not use pads with the belt, they had the sticky things on them like the pads you buy, but they were very thick. I actually liked the fact they they were very thick. They also gave out this mesh stretchy undies that were fabulous. They did not hurt my c-section at all. I remember the last day I was in the hospital they ran out of them and everyone was going crazy to find more.

Re: ok mom's to be i need some help.
if she's collecting cord blood, the collection kit and # for the courier....
Boppy pillow for BF'ing other breast feeding supplies
It really isn't a big deal if she forgets to pack something (other than the cord blood kit!)... after all, her DH can bring it when he pops home
