OK... NOW I HAVE A FEVER???? Any quick cures for engorgement.. I'm in agony!!
I woke up this morning and my left boob looks like I had a breast lift, it weighs about 10 pounds, and when I try to nurse him on this side, the pain is physically unbearable. I tried to pump but I only got about an ounce in a 1/2 hour. Usually i can get about 3-4 in 15 minutes! Please help!! TIA
What do i do now.. it's 100.7, and i feel like a$$ right now!

or is that what you're supposted to do when you don't want your milk to come in...

Take a shower and express some milk. Then try Bfing or pumping again.

Massage gently all the way from under your armpit to your nipple (gently of course). Also, let the hot water run on you in the shower. Feel better.

when you are unable to shower, throughout the day keep some wet washcloths around. Throw one in the microwave to get hot and hold it to your boob. After that, fill a bowl full of cool water and submerge boob in there.
I found that hot/cold worked best. You have to get the milk out.
The #1 cure that I have found is rest. be sure to put a towel down first, or a few..I wrecked my mattress. nap, nap, nap. have the baby fed and changed...then put the baby down close to you...and sleep.
My boob was the size of my freaking head at one point. I tried everything...one night I went to sleep, woke up the next moring drenched. Everything had just leaked out.

I move the pump suction around, so the nipple isnt in the exact center of pump and i get tons more. It helps me with the engorgement.

Be careful with the cabbage leaves. This helps to dry up the milk supply as well. It does help the pain though if you don't mind smelling like sour kraut for a while...... Trust me when I weaned my DS the cabbage leaves were a TREMENDOUS relief.....

IF you are not able to pump as well, you might have a clogged duct. Try a hot shower and let the water run on your boob for a while. Then try to pump again.

oooooo I remember this, put cabbage leaves in your bra for hmm I think it was like an hour, then take them out, massage with both hands using your fingers to poke up and down starting at the top of your breast working in a circular motion till you reach your nipple and squeeze, it hurt but helped me out a great deal- never had it again and felt so much better. Once you see some milk coming out- pump right away. start slow- 5 minutes on each side only after the milk comes out when you squeeze, continue to do the massage then pump again 10 min keep doing till you hit 20 min each side after 10 min is 15 min. this is what the lactation nurse did with me. and wallah after that I pumped out a lot but dummy me didnt keep up with it and I lost my supply.

oh duh I forgot the most important part- you need a hot- not burning towel to put on your breast before you start the massage. Nuke a wet towel for 30 sec in a zip lock bag.

I think you have a plugged duct rather than just engorgement. What I found helped TREMENDOUSLY in addtion to the massage and hot compresses/shower:
Try to nurse or pump laying forward. The force of gravity REALLY helps get the milk out. I would lay my DD down on the bed and I would lay over her balanced on my elbows and nurse her that way. Nursing is better than pumping becasue it elicits a stronger let-down.

the cabbage leaves are a relief for engorgement for what ever reason- to wean, or milk came in too fast, etc.

Its probably mastitis. Call your doctor and get some antibiotics. MAke sure you keep pumping/breastfeeding from that side.
