Ok, so I booked DD's 1st b-day BUT...
I know the entertainment can be costly. I found 2 clowns one for 100/hr and 1 for 120/hr But then the reputable companies are like 200. I am torn bc DD doesnt know the difference and I only need some entertainment in a restuarant not perfection...what do you think?

I would ask for references and go with one of the cheaper ones. I live in Westchester and the cheapest one with great references was $185. I'm hoping the feedback was right, but I think she sounds kinf of old and annoying when I speak to her.  I guess I'll find out if it was worth it this weekend.

I understand the suggestion, but the whole idea of hiring someone is that they know what to do. They know what games/songs will entertain kids. I thikn having someone dress up like Santa or the Easter Bunny is one thing, but I wouldn't suggest having a friend be your entertainment. JMHO

hmm...I guess I see what you're saying. I'm not having a party so I'm clueless

Same here! We say that in my office all the time. if we closed our office doors and took in some children we would be millionairres! LOL
