Hey - I commented on parenting
I love the "very bored" comment.
Ummm, hi - you're their mother. Give them something to do if HW hasn't started yet. ***?!?!?!? Like she doesn't want to exert the effort to spend time with her kids, she needs HW to keep them busy .

Umm, if your kid is bored, DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR KID! Give him or her some chores, tell him or her to get a job, I don't know, do something wtih your kid!!!

Re: Ok- so no one commented on this post on parenting so maybe
i had parents contact me 3x - separate parents, that wanted me to put their children's books in their bags so they didn't forget them at school.
i told the parents personal responsibility starts at a young age (1st grade in my case) i am not going to place the books in their bags, because then what will they learn? homework is their responsibility - if 19 kids can bring the books home without having me hold their hand along the way, the other 3 should fare well on their own too
i couldn't believe some of the things being said on the parenting board. i like to stay away from the drama - hence i didn't post there...epee sorry you were singled out

I agree!!! I also teach 1st and I get the same thing. Now here's the clincher. It's the 'advanced' class. Therefore, he!! will freeze over before I do that. Yes, they are 6/7 but they need to learn. I don't coddle, I don't make excuses. And half the time, they just choose not to listen to directions and chat with their friends...so then I have to make up for that??? Uh uh, no way...
