dh and i think *hope* we're financially ready to redo our master bath. we want an entire gut job, done professionally, start to finish. where do i begin? i have an idea of what i want in my head... do i go look at tiles and vanitys etc first or do i get a contractor in, and start there? can anyone recommend a fabulous bathroom contractor? i am in suffolk... fm if you'd rather not post. please help, i'm a lost soul - we've been thinking about this for months and been saving longer. i need to get a move on with this, i can no longer take my powder blue 1970's explosion of a bathroom!

where are you located? I have a GREAT contractor in Suffolk. Let me know if you want his name and number
When my DH and I did pur bathroom, we went to Home Depot expo with our ideas and got prices and dimentions of the things we wanted to replace. Then went from there.
Things in magazines and online look way different in real life. you might love something in a picture but when you see it in real life...not so much

I have a great contractor! Our bathroom was done in one week. Also, I recommended them to a friend and her bathroom was done in 4 days. I have double sinks, granite, soaking kohler tub, they changed the plumbing, gutted everything, did ALL the electric, were so professional! NO STRESS AT ALL!!!
The entire labor for this project was less than 5k. I had crazy estimates for this ... some wanted 13 k just for labor! Honestly, we are having them do our basement and our second bath soon. They did not cut corners. He is fully licensed and insured and has a great team.
FM if you are interested.

We got a price on labor and basic materials then we supplied the decorative elements ie: vanity, tub, tiles, sink, faucets, etc. We did it that way so we could pick out whatever we wanted and not have to renegotiate upgrades if we chose something that was higher priced than a quote, or left it up to the contractor to pick. I didn't want to rely on their taste for toilet, tub, etc. I can recommend the contractor that did our bathrooms - FM me if you want his name and number. Here are a couple of pics. I can give you recommendations on where we got our vanity and other stuff too if you want it.
