ok trying to break bad habits....

DD is 10 weeks and she naps in her car seat so today i am spending the day having her learn to sleep in her crib. (which she does at night)

Once she has this down the next habit im breaking is rocking her to sleep. she needs to fall aleep on her own.

Im going back to work in 4 weeks so this has to be done by then so that other people can put her down to nap and sleep.

wish me luck :) so far shes been nappin in her crib for 15 min. it took me 20 min to get her to sleep.

Good luck! I started doing those things when I had about 4 weeks left as well.

As far as not rocking her to sleep, I suggest rocking her until she is drowsy then put her in the crib. It worked for Steven really well. Until he found he knees and feet to be silly, that is.Chat Icon

Good luck! I'm sure she will do great!

A little rocking is not too bad. I agree, put her down when she is drowsy, it works for my DD too.

At 10 weeks, I don't think these things are bad habits yet! You can not create bad habits in such a young baby!!!

But good luck!

Good luck DD didn't nap in her crib until she was like 7 months old!
Why can't she nap in the swing or car seat or wherever she is comfy now?

bc its harder to ween them away from those things when they get older. plus we bought a beautiful crib for her. BTW she hates the swing and bouncy. i think shes the only child that does LOL

Good luck NancyChat Icon

I agree I don't think they are habits yet, but its always good to start off on the right foot.

I did the same thing about 4 weeks before I went to work. She now naps in her crib (DD belly sleeps for naps, so I just rub her back a little). I never rocked, but definitely agree put her down drowsy so she learns to self soothe.

Re: ok trying to break bad habits....

As a mommy of a stubborn 5 month old that never did this- I agree, it's important! DS will only nap by being rocked to sleep and then we can transfer him to the swing- we have yet to do CIO for naps but I may start tomorrow! Chat Icon

I don't know if I can do it! Chat Icon

Re: ok trying to break bad habits....

We still do a little rocking to help get DS drowsy and then we put him down. But he naps and sleeps in his crib.

Re: ok trying to break bad habits....

I give you so much credit. DD is 15 wks and still doesn't nap unless moving! I am just happy to get to sleep during the day at all. Chat Icon I really need to start to do this.
