OK, while I'm venting (Sorry - its Sunday!) - and of course its long....

Another family vent...

I am so sad that Cailen will not have experiences with his grandparents that I had... My parents are just so not interested in him Chat Icon We visited yesterday - usually my dad will call when he's in the area but never goes out of his way to see Cailen.

My parents hardly even sat for 1 minute to interact or even look at him... they kept going to do other things (like household projects - things that could wait - we were only dropping by for 10-15 minutes!)

Then, my stepmother tells me how sad my dad is because his boat got destroyed, and its his only source of happiness. I said - well, maybe he can spend time with the baby - that can cheer him up. She then says he cares about the boat more than anything, and he really doesnt care about babies... In a way, I know she's right, but she is always pushing my stepsister and her kids on my dad - they call him grandpa, etc ( I have posted all about this before) - and she just casts Cailen aside as some random "baby" that comes second to his boat.... It really hurt (and I think it hurts because theres a lot of truth to it)

Also, my stepmother seems to have running commentary on my every interaction with Cailen. About my voice being high when I speak to him, about me kissing him and telling him how cute and gorgeous he is ("Cailen - I think your moms a little biased - what do you think?" " Cailen, you think your mother is kissing you enough?" - but in a really obnoxious, critical way - as if I'm doing something to harm him by interacting with him this way...) She said, "Well he DOES" have cute ears ( Chat Icon ) and I say in my high voice to him - "He has cute everything" with a big smile that makes him smile back, and she was like, "oh, ok..." I'm like - what? I'm going to not kiss my child? I'm going to tell him he's ugly? I know that PDA akes her uncomfortable, and she always had difficulty praising me for anything, and you can see her cringe when people compliment me or the baby... She enjoyed telling me how overweight I was when I was younger and heavier, so I guess compliments are not in her reportoir, but still....

And my grandma, God bless her - she's 83, but she's always too busy to see Cailen. It makes me sad, because it was my dream for her to see my child someday, and she's lucky to be so healthy to run around all over the place, but she just seems so uninterested in seeing Cailen... I have such wonderful memories with her growing up - I wanted Cailen to have them too (even if he may be too young to remember this time...)

DH's parents live in cherry Hill NJ, and so does his sister - all doting to their grandkids.... so they are far away and its hard to see them as often...

I guess I'm feeling it because I have been to a few functions these past few days with grandparents, all gushing and talking so happily baout their grandchildren, how they are their everything, etc... I told DH that I wished someone spoke about Cailen that way....

Anyway - sorry - I am a rollercoaster of emotions... It makes me so sad. Cailen is lucky to have all of us shower so much love on him, but I wish he could have grandma/grandpa memories... I even remember my great grandparents!!!
