Okay, for real this time...what was I thinking?
Tomorrow is Dh's b-day, and so I decided to invite over a few people...which turned into 30 people...
I am also working all day tomorrow, and because I invited them over at 7, I have to feed everyone...it seemed like such a great idea at the time..lol
So, I ordered a hero, and now I need salads....everyone know I always cook myself, but I refuse to...
Who has good potato/mac/cole slaw type stuff?
Also-if I want to make funfetti cake, do I need two mixes for 30 people?
Oh, and if this isn't enough, our 1 year wedding anniversary is on Sunday, and we are celebrating it on Saturday night....talk about a busy weekend!!!!
Vent over...oh and I will be 35 weeks Saturday!

The place you ordered the heroes from doesn't have salads???
I'd definitely get 2 mixes for the cake... maybe do one as cupcakes and one as a 2-layer cake.

They had the salads but you had to order with this huge package...annoying...
Yes, a cake and cupcakes would be nice!

I'd say skip baking a cake, and go to a bakery.
Also, get some berries or other small fruit for dessert, its super easy way to class up anything and almost everyone loves them.

And if you're being thrifty... they had funfetti cake mix on sale at Target last weekend (not sure if it still is... but probably! and the box said it made 24 cupcakes!)
Are you doing any hot foods or just the heroes and salads?

I am heading to Target on the eay home from work...I'll check out the mixes...the problem with me and Target, is I never get just the cake mix...I come with new clothes, dog toys, baby stuff, curtains..it's like an all out adventure for me..lol
No hot foods, can't be bothered, if this was on a saturday, and I had off, I probably would have cooked, everything....

This stuff is awesome, get wo boxes add sliced olives and mozzerella cheese and you are set! Believe it or not I sliced polly-o string cheese and the size was perfect for the salad.

Okay so I'd probably do maybe a veggie platter appetizer with some spinach dip and onion dip (super easy to make - and you can just buy the veggie platter!)
Then get potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, pickles, potato chips, and a regular garden salad as sides...
You can probably get ALL of this stuff at Costco and just season them up a bit!

You are definitely over-ambitious! Happy anniversary BTW. I agree with the two boxes of cake mix. Where do you live? I agree-they don't have salads where you ordered the hero?

Re: Okay, for real this time...what was I thinking?
Stop and Shop and Costco has some good pre-made potato salads and stuff.
I wouldn't bake a cake..I'd go to the bakery...especially with the lmited time and number of people.

Good plan. Did you try BJs? Do you live anywhere near Port Jefferson Station? Because Meat Farms there has yummy salads!
