Okay I know the reports aren't supposed to be good....
But I just got my DC's report for our upcoming CPSE meeting and I'm just They are so sad to read.

Try to think of them as a starting point of things to work on. Now you know in which areas DC needs help, and you can work on that.
I find there are peaks and valleys to his progress and I try not to dwell on the valley moments. Also, the reports don't show potential, just where they are now.

I am sorry you are upset
But if it makes you feel a little better - as a related service provider - we know services are being cut all the time from children that truly need the service SO sometimes we try to play up a child deficits in a report to "help" ensure that services will be continued. Even though we would love to play up the wonderful gains all our 'children" have made - sometimes that hinders the child getting services continued. It is not a good system at all but I know I will fight to help my "children" anyway I can!!!

Keep in mind that standardized testing focuses on "worst performance" by taking your child out of context and then asking them to perform under pressure. If you were to look at your child under "best performance" I'm certain you would see a totally different child on paper but the SD doesn't want to see that unfortunately. It's not your child not even on paper....

Thank you I know I was prepared for them to be bad bc I was told they make them sounds worse - BUT still it is just miserable to read. I don't know how all of you ladies do this. You all must be so strong!
