Okay remind me again...

Hey!! Im now a mommy of 2 baby girls!!! I had my second baby girl Kayla Ava on 2/19/2009 12:15pm. She was 7lbs 12ozs and 20". via: emergency c-section.

Now I have questions regarding c-section healing.. and reminder questions about newborns.

C-section:

1- how long does it take to heal were I can move with out this burning ripping feeling?

2- staple removal hurt? Chat Icon

Newborn:

1- umbilical cord.. how long again does it take before it falls off? (1st borns fell off in pieces and had to keep getting cordirized)

Im sure ill have more questions b/c i cant remember anything lately.

Re: Okay remind me again...

Congrats on the newest addition!!

Once the staples were out the incision site felt much better. But, I'd say 3 weeks post partum I was feeling almost "great". Stay on top of your pain meds. It makes a huge difference.

Staple removal is a breeze. You don't even really feel it.

Ryan's umbillical stump fell off around 9 or 10 days old. Fell off in a big piece and then one little piece fell off a day or so after.

I did use alcohol on it at every diaper change. (and a lot of it!)

Ill start doing more often. Its been bleeding. Peds said yesterday thats a sign it will be soon.. but to me looks no way close to falling off yet.

Ive been slacking on the pain meds, I just hate taking them.

Anyway...c-section related...

Staple removal does NOT hurt at ALL!

Secondly, I did not have that sensation with my first--the staples were removed the day of my discharge; however, with #2 I DID have that feeling and I think it's because I came home with the staples. Once they were out the burning sensation pretty much stopped.

Umbilical cord--I don't remember I blacked it out I think! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Okay remind me again...

Wow removed the same day of discharge?? I guess a week later then I can stop worrying about me ripping open the incision. I keep fearing that.

Re: Okay remind me again...

Congrats!!!

I had the burning ripping tight feeling inside after my csection. I was worried it wouldn't ever go away but it took about 6 weeks to fully go away. The staples didn't hurt one bit coming out. DDs umblicial cord dried up and fell out within 2-3 weeks. I didn'use alcohol not even one time, as per my ped and it dried up nicely. Remember though, no bathing it or getting it wet.

Chat Icon So happy for you!!! Like your new name!

Re: Okay remind me again...

Congrats!
1 - It got much better after a week but the 2nd week was still a little tough.
2 - Staples didn't hurt one bit. It was still kinda of numb which is weird.
3 - my DD's cord fell off too early but I would say about 10 days.

The burning and pain I had went away as soon as the staples came out. When they came out it didn't hurt one bit and right away all the tension, etc went away.

Alexa's stump fell off after 1 week. It happened really quick.
