Okay, so Running is OUT...
what are my other options. I can't run until 12/2...I have one last short 4 mile race I must run. But I really want to lay off the running until next year...maybe my bday 1/21 start up again. But I need my achilles to heal completely and never give me problems again.
So what are other REALLY GOOD things I can do this winter in the gym. I get so bored on the elliptical and will take some spin...what else.
I just don't want to gain weight or lose the muscle I gained from the marathon training.

How about spinning classes or the elliptical? both are low impact.

What about doing a full-circuit of weights? I alternate that with spin classes and it seems to keep the muscle and tone that I have. I try to do one machine per muscle group. (quads/shoulders/chest/back/hamstrings for example). Some of the body scupt classes that gyms offer are pretty good too.

Check out Pilates reformer-it burns calories and lengthens and tightens your body. I am nowhere near in as good shape as you(sorry I jknow that doesn't make grammatical sense) and i saw a huge difference in my body.

If you like swimming, I would def recommend that also. It's very low impact.. and you get a great workout! I was a swimmer for years and I truly miss it!!
I hope everything heals up for you!!
Congrats again on completing the marathon!

try a new cardio equipment, bike or roller blade outdoors, walk, focus on toning, aerobics, spinning, pilates, yoga?
