Okay... so what's the deal with sex and contractions?
Is it the actual physical act of sex or the semen that can bring on labor/contractions?

It's the semen. It softens the cervix.
Hence the reason "solo" tries don't work to bring on labor.

Might be related...
At the breastfeeding class I went to the woman was talking about the wives tale to rub a coarse cloth over your nipples to get them used to the abuse they will undergo when breastfeeding. She said not to do it - that stimulation to the breast can cause the uterus to contract.

Yup! Along the same lines, I saw a show about midwives and one Mom-to-be was 1 week overdue, not progressing and they hooked her up to the breastpump, as that can cause the uterus to contract!!!

Its the Big O..it causes uterine contractions...
Or rather the Big O itself involves uterine contractions...which can help labor a long...
Im a preterm labor girl and sex itself isnt so much out of the question but more the Big O that is a no no
