Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
All I know is that I want the epidural at the first sign of pain. Doubt they will let that happen, but I am definately asking for it as soon as I get my foot in the door of the hospital.

Just remember its pain with a purpose and the early pain isn't too bad. You guys will do great.

I'm with you... I want the epidural as a part of the check in...
But honestly- so many women do it, and they come out OK. My teeny tiny 5 foot petite sister had a baby this June and while she was in labor she went to the mall, got on the treadmill did her hair and delivered a baby all the while managing to look better than I did!! So if she can do it, I can do it.

I am 30 weeks and am starting to get very nervous about this. As for thinking it has something to do with not taking lamaze, I wouldn't think twice about that. I had my first lamaze class on Sat (we are taking lamaze in 2 5-hour classes) and within the first 25 minutes the instructor had me crying! My dh was so mad he doesn't even want to go back next week. Point is, the class was not very good, the instructor was worse and all in all I think it will be pretty useless.

I'm definetly a little anxious but we just need to remember that our bodies were MADE to do this... ... and there's no turning back now!

Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
Im almost 31 weeks and totally nervous about feeling the pain and cramps and nervous about any stiches etc...
I just keep thinking there is no turning back now, i can't stay pregnant forever - this baby has to come out of me some way or another - i just hope it isn't totally unbareable!
But like everyone says - women were made for this - they go through it all the time and go back and have seconds

Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
I'm only 20 weeks and starting to get nervous too. I plan on going natural, no drugs, and I am worried that I won't be strong enough and cave into the epi, when that's not want I want to do.
Just have to trust my body...I am way more worried though about my water breaking when I am in the car, work or a store.

Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
I was so nervous too! I just had a baby 2 weeks ago.
In the hospital the nurse will ask you what your pain tolerance is on a scale from 1-10. I said 0 and cried when they put in the IV. This way she knew that I needed to get the epi sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately my first epi didn't work so I felt more pain than I should have but all in all it wasn't that bad. 2 weeks later you don't even care.
Plus my baby was 9lbs 6.5 ounces!

Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
THey usually don't give you an epi unless you are a few cms dilated.. but if you insist on something, they will give you something to take the edge off.. I highly suggest that.. Staline? I think it's called? it was amazing.

It's called Stadol. It is good for early labor.

Re: Okay so who is nervous about labor pains?
I had my baby 2 weeks ago too. I was SOOOOO nervous about the labor and delivery- please believe me when I tell you it is a waste of energy being nervous- it hurts but it is going to happen anyway.
I wouldn't say 2 weeks later you won't even care, but you will feel better about it!
