Because everyone I talk to says it's a piece of cake but the guides don't look so delicious. They look rather scary!

I took it in Feb....I would not say it was a piece of cake! It basically tested every thing you have ever learned in your entire LIFE! Interview skillls??? W T F! Fitness??? These are things I don't teach EVER

Re: Okay, who has RECENTLY taken the CST?

I took the history one recently (Jan? Feb? It was really cold...) It was HARD!!! Let's put it this way: I graduated at the top of my class, and I didn't pass by a huge margin. Most people I know who took it did not pass the first time. I don't know which CST you are taking, but the Social Studies one is TOUGH. Definitely invest in a good prep book and GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm taking the multi subject test. I hate tests. I can't think clearly. I did buy the Cliffs review guide which so far so good.

don[t worry about them at all...my hiusband just took the LAST and multi-subject CST. He got accepted into teaching fellows and had to take the tests with absolutely NO education classes or experience in a classroom. he passed both with very high scores.

i found them both extremely easy. as long as you have experience teaching and general liberal arts knowledge you'll be fine.

Re: Okay, who has RECENTLY taken the CST?

I took it last August. honestly, I thought it was really hard only because of the variety of content. I know nothing about art, but I did pass with flying colors the first time and did not use a study guide. I wouldn't worry too much about it really. Good luck!

I think it's all relative to who you talk to. I took it in PE and it was a piece of cake because I have tons of knowledge in fitness, but for others they had problems with it and some even failed.

I took the Multi-Subject and I definitely did not think it was a piece of cake at all!! On the test I found that the answers weren't as obvious as they were on the online practice guide. I would suggest getting a review book instead of the online practice.

Hi,

I took the Multi-Sunject CST a while ago and it wasn't easy at all! There are no books to help you on this one, which is ridiculous!!! My saving grace was Certed.Com. It's definitely worth the 100 bucks.

Good Luck!

I took the English one in April (I think!) and the Spanish one on July. I passed them both. They weren't hard, but they were tricky. They were bad tests. You know from being a teacher: it's one thing to test your students to see if they know what they're supposed to; it's another to put tricky questions on there to "catch them." That's what these tests are. So, if you take your time, read carefully, read questions a few times, you'll be fine. But it's a looooooooong, tedious, boring test - 4 hours!!!! - and after a while your brain starts to feel fried and those tricky questions get to you.

It couldn't hurt to look at the test prep stuff that's free online, but I don't think you'll need to buy a book or anything. It's more important to get a good night's sleep and eat an energizing breakfast, silly as that might sound now. Good luck!
