Ok...how do you deal with a Jealous 3 1/2 year old.....

who has been acting out since her baby sister has come home. She is constantly yelling at everyone....cries for every little thing and really just wants a lot of attention. She just looks so angry and it really upsets me. She is really good with the baby on the other hand and wants to hold her and help change her but at the same time it is really bothering her. I try not to lose my patients with her and try to have her help me and tell how what a great big sister she is but it doesn't seem to help...I guess she just needs time to adjust. Anyone else experience this? How long did it last for? Any advice?

Maybe you need to give her a little one on one time. You and your dd should have a date while your dh can stay home with your other dd. She just misses the time when she had you alone. I know what you're going through and how horrible it makes you feel. After a few months, things will be somewhat back to "normal".

Try to get someone to watch the baby and do something with her. Take her to McD's, the park, anything. Try even a story time at the library. She is full of emotions right now and it will work itself out, but even when they get older try to have things that are separate. I shop with my daughter, jog with my son and cook with my youngest son. They all need to feel different and valued. As long as you can reassure her that you love her separately than you love the baby (KWIM?) you will be fine.
