Old Friends with Benefits
Just saw this on The Brookhaven Animal Shelter link on FB:
After an overwhelming response, The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter is extending its new program entitled "Old Friends With Benefits" through the end of September. The Shelter is offering: free adoptions lifetime grooming lifetime vaccinations lifetime food for those dogs and cats over the age of ten that are adopted at the shelter. All animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. There are still a few gentle old souls waiting for the home to call their own to live out their golden years. Come on down to the shelter and bring home your Old Friend today!
Something to think about if your considering adopting.

Re: Old Friends with Benefits
AWWW!
Years ago my mom called a poodle rescue and told them she was looking to adopt one. They called her and told her a standard poodle was in a kill room- did my mom want her they asked. They said the poodle was old and sick. My mom said yes she would take her, sight unseen.
Well, she picked up beautiful Angel at the pound. Angel was a sick senior citizen. I came home and she wasn't even able to move because of arthritis. I think my mom breathed health and life into that dog. They went on to share two more beautiful years together before Angel went to doggy heaven. Puppies are fun for sure, but Angel was the best senior citizen pet we ever had!
I love that Brookhaven is supporting senior adoptions. Yay!
