Older infant (8 mths) and head falling forward in a car seat, does your DCs head fall forward? (updated with info from Britax)

My DDs head is still falling forward (when sleeping) in the carseat. It's very distracting.

I am trying to figure out if there is something wrong with teh car seat as it seems the back is pushing her head forward. Or if it's pretty normal when they fall asleep.

Does your child's head fall forward in the car seat when sleeping?

Update - I called Britax. Number one, I have the straps too high. They need to be at or below shoulders. So that may help.

Also they said that I have to check to see if the seat is level with the red line. So I have to do that.

And the rep told me we can use something to level the seat, such as a rolled towel, etc.

Just an FYI for everyone.

YUP! I actually created a post like this when my sons head was flopping around in his carseat- months back. Chat Icon

Unfortunately there was no solution, but it gets better as they get older. Chat Icon

How old was your DS? DD is 8 mths and has great head control but when sleeping in the car seat it's terrible.

I have the Britax with side impact protection and the head rest seems to push forward when you raise it. So I am not sure if it's that making her head come forward or just due to sleeping.

yup and it for some reason really bothers me....i found to kinds of pillows in one step ahead that are supposed to prevent it but i know how everyone says its not good to use aftermarket things with a car seat so im still looking into it

Yup, DD is 7.5 months old in the Britax marathon and when she falls asleep her head flops forward...I don't want to use anything aftermarket though....

I have the alpha omega and this happens all the time. Its so bad I have to sit in the backseat when my DH is driving to hold his head up. My mom has the same seat in her caravan and its not as bad. the seats in my murano are slanted a little so i think thats the problem. I just put some towels infront of it so i hope this helps. I think its actually dangerous the way his head slants forward. So annoying!!!!

Do you have the seat reclined?

Yes, we triple checked. It's one of those Britax ones (expensive too) that has side impact protection, and the head part adjusts with a knob. But when you raise it, it starts tilting forward, sort of pushing DDs head in an awkward position.

I am calling Britax now, I just don't think it's good for that to happen but it's too late for me to just return the seat.

Yes, I have a truck and the seats are slanted. I DID notice that!

Are we allowed, for safety reasons, to put something under it to raise the front of it so the vehicle's seat is more level and therefore the car seat doesn't tilt as much?

We have the Roundabout and were having the same problem. We bought her the neck pillows that go on the straps. Problem fixed. Chat Icon

I have the same carseat as you I think..Britax Marathon? What we did was my rear seats reclineso we reclined them a bit to make more room for the carseat. I had it inspected at the firehouse and he said it was great
