OMG-- air ducts....
the previous owners never had the ducts cleaned.. holy moley!
i had a company come today and i had a coupon and but oh well for saving money... 
there was so much cr@p in the ducts and returns, etc it was black and there were black spots they couldnt get out so i had to have these extra things done and have everything sanitized for mold and spores, etc.
DH and i are worried that mold spores, etc are in the house.
we're going to get a kit to test the air (does home depot or lowes sell that?)

We just paid $900 last week to have the ducts cleaned and the mold removed..I agree its crazy but the air conditioner works so much better.

we used american quality temperature.
they were very nice. i would recommend them.
we're in nj, so i dont know if they're also in ny.

How often does this need to be done?
we bought a mold test kit tonight. we'll test the air in the house this weekend.
the men said it needs to be done every 2-3 years.
my DH has athsma, so i'm glad we got it done b4 we move in even though it was $$$.

Hmm, shouldn't your air filter take care of keeping most of the junk out of your ducts? I don't think mold can live in there unless you had a leak of some sort. I think 2-3 years is a money making ploy to be honest. But what do I know
