omg can someone just please tell me to BREATHE!
i am 35 weeks, started washing everything today........
I took the tags off everything, organized everything by color, whether it has to be washed cold or warm water.......
washed the receiving blankets first - FINE
then i did the first load of clothes (all diff sizes from newborn, 3m, 6m, 9m) dryed them on LOW how it said on all the tags. and i just finished folding them,,,, and thought.......... JEEZ these look really friggin small..... so i go to compare them to the same size onesie but in a diff color that wasnt washed and its soooo much smaller. what the heck happened? these are carters clothes, do they all shrink. what am i supposed to do with the rest? i am so mad right now i just want to scream. DH is asleep so i cant even wake him up to complain.
I heard of someone mentioning it once (long time ago) that you should always buy a size bigger (in carters) but i didnt listen!!!!!!!im so mad,,,,,,,,, and i took all the tags off. i just feel like crying  is there something wrong with me???? that i cant even do laundry right

I promise you didnt screw up your laundry....what is 3 months in one brand is 6 months in another. NONE of them fit the same...NONE.

don't worry- carters runs big!!!
i put all the clothes in a cold wash in the washer and used the dryer on low heat and luckily nothing shrunk.

i kno but they shrunk, because i compared one 3 month carters onesie to another 3 months carters onesie (from the same pack) just different color

Still dont worry, DC WILL be able to wear them. Youll be surprised how tiny they really are when they are born. DS was a BIG baby and he was still in newborn for like the first month or so. I know it looks tiny, even shrunk, but I promise your DC will fit in them. I look back now to my DS newborn, and size 3mo clothes and cannot believe he EVER fit it them since he was so chubby and still is.

Don't feel bad, I just did a ton of baby laundry on monday and preggo brain kicked in and guess what I did!!!!!! I put the dryer on hight heat and shrunk a ton of stuff I am still so mad and upset!! I got a lot of carters to and now most of it is shrunk! Now what am I going to do!?

I wash DSs carter's clothing on cold. Did you use the hot setting? As pp said babies are really small and some of the clothing sized the same by one brand can be different from another brand. I have also encountered clothing from the same brand labeled with the same size being 2 different sizes.

wash in COLD water ONLY - that's what we do.
also - when we dry - we use a delicate setting - medium heat. we normally have to do two rounds in the dryer - but nothing shrinks.
as the other girls said - you are LIKELY fine - carters stuff runs VERY large. Emma is not tiny - but she's ONLY fitting NB stuff STILL....

I've never washed DD clothes in warm water. I always wash them in cold water on the gentle cycle and then dry them on the lowest heat setting possible on the dryer. I've never had anything shrink and I have Carter's clothes galore. Maybe try using just cold water next go around.

You didn't ruin your stuff. I had the same thing happen to me & I called my friend immediately that had a baby 5 months ago. She agreed, the stuff will look smaller bc you just washed & dried it but that in reality, it will still fit the baby.

i've never had anything carters shrink before. i wash EVERYTHING together in cold only (including my own clothes) and dry them on high--delicate cycle doesn't fully dry them in my dryer.
also, i wouldn't buy things a size bigger in carters at all. carters runs pretty true to size from my experience.
the stuff will still fit the baby. don't worry--you didn't ruin the clothes!

I only wash clothes in cold water. Carters runs big so if it did shrink, I wouldn't worry too much. When DS moves to the next size in other brands, he can still wear the smaller Carters clothes for a little while.
