OMG-Freddy is coming home

while this is good news it's also not so good. He could have really benefitted from being inpatient longer. He's just not making as much progress as he needed to make at this point as an inpatient.

We are all nervous about him coming home especially dad. He just got a new piece for his leg and he hasn't started working on it.

I knew this day would come but he needs so much more therapy.

The bad side of medical insurance. I am sure he will be fine when he gets home. I hope it is a positive thing for you, Fred and your family!!

I'm sure he'll do great!!!! I'm so happy for him and all of you.
My FIL is coming home today also- he should be leaving the hospital now- they said he made some turnaround!!!

Will he have out patient therapy? if so, might be just what he needs, he'll have to get moving just to get to therapy....and whatever else.

He's been through a lot and has come this far....only time will tell.

Yes, insurance is kicking him out. I think his prothesis company plain old s u c k s and it took so long to get them to fix his leg. I put a call into the insurance case worker today and hopefully I will hear back. I'm hoping to buy him some time to get his leg fixed right and get a chance for the therapists there to work on him. If not, then he will come home.

I guess we are just neverous. The insurance company has paid for 7 months of in-patient care so far so I really can't complain. They have advocated for him all this time and he has made some great progress.

He will get out patient therapy but not as intensive as when you are inpatient.

I called the prosthesis company to let them know that he's coming home and they dragged their feet on this. I may ask BCBS to let us get a new prosthesis company..this one blows.

I hope that you can buy some time for him. It sucks that the prothesis dragged their feet on getting him a new leg.

You would think in a field like that, they would be a little more on the ball.

yep it blows. I spoke to the orthotist and asked when the new top of the leg was coming in and he said he's waiting for the order from the facility. I said to call them and he said he told them when he was there last week. Well, how about following up jackazz? I guess he has enough business and he doesn't need to get paid for more work.

They weren't aware that he was waiting for it. He never made a formal request to the doctor!

Please, if I didn't ride these people and intervene, Fred would have been sunk..

BTW- we went to visit your mom on Halloween- did she tell you????

I dont think she realized it was us until we were saying goodbye...

I'm glad his insurance company did right by him. That's good to hear.

I know it's scary, but hopefully coming home will really help him.

It's very scary and even though we have put everything in place, he needs lots of help. I want to make sure he doesn't need anything. He will get home therapy and a nurse to come in a few times a week to check on him. He still has a beast of a bed sore.
