I honestly don't know..although during the blackout of 03 we survived. I don't think I could these past 2 days all day with no A?C because of the air quality.
Also, my new rehearsal hall is barely air conditioned, and when you have 25 people in a 20x15 room, forget it

We buy lots of fans!! 
We only have AC in our bedroom and in the computer room. The rest of the house is AC free.
You just learn to deal.

The only room we have AC in is our bedroom. We have fans and it's hot. We take lots of cold showers or "pretend" to be fixing our sprinkler while getting all wet...I do this all the time. I couldn't imagine sleeping in this heat, though.

Yup. When I was in NY we lived in a small apt. that had vertical windows so A/C was no option. We survived. If anythign I burned more calories...I would sweat it off.

I don’t care what anyone says, fans work! Why do people say that they don’t do anything? it’s cooler air on your skin and it feels great!

No A/C at work or in my home, just fans. It rarely gets over 75 where I live so this heat wave is killing us.
Let's just say, I went to beach, jumped in the ocean and took two cold showers later that evening. Its sooo hot.

I can deal with the heat, I can't deal with the way the air gets when it's hot. From MAay-Sept I have the AC on constantly or else I can't breathe. I had to walk 4 blocks yesterday and I thought I was not going to make it. I couldn't breathe!

Where do you live?
ETA: I don't know how people do it. My parents have a fan in the kitchen/dining room but ACs in all the other rooms. Right before dinner they all jump in the pool...LOL

Us too!!! It's a pain in the butt, but you just deal with it. We have a ceiling fan in the bedroom, but Dh is a big baby about having air blowing directly on him (as opposed to an AC) WAA WAA WAA

I cannot be uncomfortable and hot in my own home. We have friends that have no AC, and we dread going there. It's awful. We have AC, and I have it on ALL night, and turn it on the second I walk in the door.

I could NOT live without my CAC. At work the guys out in the shop are working in what feels like an oven. It's been unusually humid plus hot in SoCal-we usually don't get this humid..95 deg plus the humid factor = cranky people!
