OMG i just received a bill for 500 $$ for DS EI evaluation ....
is this not done through the state ?????
we have REALLY good insurance  so why for 1 is the insurance getting billed and then on top of that we now have a bill ???
i am so mad right now and i cant call the insurance company because they arent open 
has anyone else having EI services had to pay this ???
on the statement it says " NEUROLOGICAL TEST "
was i present when this was done ??? as i havent seen any "NEUROLOGICAL TEST " preformed on my son ???
this is just insane ...

They bill your insurance first but ei should pick up what they don't pay. Call your service coordinator first.
I don't think you will have to pay it.

Wait...is it a BILL or is it a statement from your insurance company ( an explanation of benefits maybe?)
I know NY state does "try" to bill inusurance ( it is always denied ) and they never bill you. When you had your EI intial meeting they should have explained all this to you.
You wont get a bill from the state.
Remember , your insurance company is just that, they cant ever BILL you, they dont provide the services. But their "statements" often look like a bill.
Its just state protocol.

i understand what you are saying but this is a " YOUR TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY IS " 496$$ with a note saying " out of network benefits not avalilable under policy " 
hello i had no choice in the matter ...aaaaahhhhhh these people make me nuts .... i went with what i was told should be done and that being he is of age that it was state paid !!! this was why it was done when it was done !
did you have a bill ??

Its an explanation of benefits.
It IS NOT A BILL. I swear to you. ( I worked in insurance for a long time)
All insurance statements say that....But you will NOT get a bill from the state for it.
If you call they will tell you this this was all explained to me in that first meeting. That they always bill insurance, it is ALWAYS denied and your insurance company by law has to send you a explanation of your denial of benefits.
Trust me. Its NOT a bill and you wont get one.
Call your EI agency tommorow if you feel you need them to verify this, but dont worry till then
Eta- yes I got the same thing from my insurance comapny.

Either. I think it will be easier to call your coordinator, since they know you. they will explain it away. ( the insurance company knows nothing other then they were billed for a non covered service and are telling you they arent paying)....
The service coordinator will explain how they bill and that its always free. Actaully they should have given you a paper on this too at your intial visit. I have one that says how they took my insurance info for billing purposes, but that EI is in NYS 100% free and I will never be billed ofr a service.

i wasnt given anything like that and they never even took down insurance info from me ...

Well it is an EOB i agree and i dont see why you have to call anyone yet. It is just the insurance company saying they are not going to pay anything but until the state bills you dont worry about it.

It is definitely just a statement. We received them for DD's PT. I got statements for every single PT session she had from my insurance company, because the state tried to bill them, but my insurance didn't cover, so it was paid by the state. You are not responsible for it, it is just basically showing that they tried to get paid through insurance. I actually got ticked, because they seriously sent us for every single session DD had...such a waste of paper.
