OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

ASAP...

I don't care what it will cost me- but I just cant deal with the pain anymore...

Anyone rec'd one?

Should I just go to a reg. Dentist and get a rec'd to have my wisdom teeth extracted- and have them right up the extraction on the tooth that's killing me (a molar that I do not need!) and have an oral surgeon do it all at once?

Or do these sedation dentists exsist...???

Are you afraid of the dentist? Or afraid of the pain? I'm terrified of the dentist, and would love to hear if you find one that will sedate you. I swear I get ulcers over going every year.

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

I would say make an appt right away with an oral surgeon and they can take care of everything
I am the QUEEN of tooth probs, over the past few months I have gone through so many root canals, wisdom teeth pulled
If you need a good oral surgeon I know 2 in the Huntington area

Good luck!

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

Terrified....

Never had a fear- had one guy torment me a few years ago- and now I can get myself to go...

3 yrs ago- a friend tricked me into going (for the same tooth that is killing me NOW) I got so hysterical and threw up in the chair....

There are sedation dentists out there- Im just yet to find one...

Part of my issue is impacted wisdom teeth- so Im pretty certain If I had them extracted the oral surgeon could extract the problem tooth as well!

Do I have to go to the reg. dentist first? I dont have dental coverage so- I dont need the referral for the insurance company or anything...

What do I say? Hi my teeth hurt? As I mentioned above I KNOW my wisdom teeth are part of the problem... (they are growing in w/ cavaties- which has spread to the molar next to it...)

Its been so long- how does the whole process work?

I HAVE to be put to sleep- will they do that?

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

Well I would call the oral surgeon and tell them you would like to come in for a consultation, explain the situation with cavities, molars and wisdom teeth
they will take an xray and show you what the teeth look like etc,,if they dont I would be wary
IF you are totally positive you need to have the wisdom teeth extracted then go for it, I had a problem with my teeth and my endodontist said it was my wisdom teeth, I had all 4 taken out and have not had any probs yet

Yes the oral surgeon will give you the option to be put to sleep or have heavy duty novacine
I am a total baby and I was put out both times I have my teeth extracted and then they gave me heavy pain killers for after but I was fine once they were out

let me know if you need names of the surgeons.
Hope this helps! Chat Icon

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

well the oral surgeon will only extract wisdom teeth and pull them, they wont do a root canal BUT if you need a root canal finished I have a good endodontist that can do that
I would say go for the consultation first for your wisdom teeth if that is where the pain is coming from

Dr Sands-Main Street 25A in Huntington

Dr. Maioraino-Main Street 25A in Huntington

THey are both Oral surgeons, very good!

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

I had mine done when I was younger. The oral surgeon put me in like a twilght-I was asleep. I didn't feel a thing, but had to eat mushy foods for a week. The guy was on Middle Country Road in Coram near Tatoo Lous...He was cute too! Chat Icon

Hopefully they can just extract both...

They will def put you to sleep, and the extraction take like 30 mins or so not even, they get the IV going and in like seconds you will be out cold

I saw an ad in my local paper for sedation dentistry - I believe it's called Babylon Dental Care on Rt. 109 in West Babylon.

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

I just went thru a dental phobia yesterday. You have my complete sympathy. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I got a great dentist off of these boards who relaxed me and talked me thru the whole thing- it was not bad- I would dry heeve if I had to go, and it has been a long time for me. I went to Dr. Berkenfield, the # is 516-221-6262. he was GREAT and the staff is GREAT too. I was nearly in tears sitting there, but it was not bad. I have to get root canal next week, and a cleaning- which I am terrified for, but not as scared as I was becuase this dentist was kind. and gentle. I did not even need novacaine for the temp filling he put in and it is about 15 hours later and I am in no pain. Blue-ize uses him, and she recommended me to him, and told me his staff and him were great. I am not sure if he does wisdom teeth, I think he might- feel free to FM mail me- I am here if you need to talk . Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA - he offered me a teddy bear that he gives to the kids , to pull at or twist the head off if I was that nervous- I declined but took the box of tissues and only used one.

Hi Maris,

I just saw this post today. Did you ever find a sedation dentist?

I had asked this question a few months back, but I put everything off...AGAIN. We just moved to Charlotte, and I found a sedation dentist here. I'm going for a consultation with him on Tuesday.

Just wondering if you had it done, and what your experience was. Even though I know I'll be out, I'm still a little nervous. Chat Icon

Re: OMG- I NEED A SEDATION DENTIST

Go to an oral surgeon. Your dentist will recommend one.

Nearly all of them offer IV sedation for wisdom teeth. I don't have a fear of dental work, but I got the IV sedation. I was out the whole time. It wasn't bad at all! Chat Icon
