OMG! Living in Vegas is SO cheap!!!!!!

last night i saw "true life:im moving to las vegas" and the girl mentioned her rent was $600 and i was like thats it???

so out of pure boredom i am looking on CL at apartments..... scratch that, i mean HOUSES in Vegas and omg it is SO cheap! you can get such a gorgeous place for so little money!

i wonder if that is a place i would consider moving to in the future.

I always loved Vegas and would love to live there BUT... There are parts of VEGAS I wouldn't drive through forget about live in. Vegas houses TRIPLED in price since the early 2000's. Its not as Cheap as you think it is!

prices have actually gone up quite a lot in the last 3 or so years

My best friend bought a HOUSE the same time i bought my condo..

THEY WERE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME PRICE!!!!!!!!!!

My 1 bedroom condo as opposed to her 3 bedrrom 3 bath colonial

LV is a booming area...

there is a HUGE housing boom there. A lot of people are moving there because it is so afforable to buy homes-- and the business is increasing too to accomodates the growing population.

i know, we passed thru some scary neighborhoods, we'd really ahve to scope it out.

its much less than nyc reguardless how much its gone up

My friend lived all her life in manhattan and said she would never move back here

she LOVES IT...

And is constantly trying to get me to go out there...

the RE market outside of this immediate area is enough to make one sick. it's so much more affordable than here with the same salaries or MORE.

but the grass isn't always greener. I found an interesting forum for all the different areas in the US. it's called city-data.com and then search by city. you can find a LOT of helpful info.

My parents have a few homes there and my father is partner in a design/construction business out there. They will move out there permanently when my Dad retires from his NYC job in a couple of years.

Their development was definitely not cheap, but if those homes were here they'd be worth many millions. Sooo crazy!!!

You have to be careful of the rif-raf so to speak out there. There are many nice communties, you just have to watch the quality of people that live in them.

i know i can get a brtending job easy out there...
and im sure dh could transfer no problem at all... then we could eventually open up our bar there maybe

If you have a portable job/salary, then living in a less expensive location would pay off.

Not sure if you're aware but Vegas is a very pro-union town...bartenders union, hotel employee restaurant employee union. I'd make sure to secure a job beforehand if you are serious.

My best friend is lives (well did live in vegas not sure where she is now) She had an awesome apt. And her parents have an awesome house.

4 bedrooms 2 and a half baths and when they got it it was 185,000

I wanted to go back to Vegas but im scared. I feel like since my friend isn't there it wont be the same
