OMG- Never leave your child unattended!
I can not believe this just happened to me! I am posting this because I have to tell someone and am afraid to tell my dh. Or anyone else for that matter, I am mortified.
I stepped out of my apartment for probably 30 seconds- I left dd dancing in the kitchen while I ran to get something outside. I swear, it was 30 seconds.
I turned around to get back in and she locked the door! I couldn't open it! So I am yelling at her to unlock it, and she is answering "What, Mommy? What did you say?" I almost had a heart attack. I knew if I screamed at her to open it she would have just started to cry.
So, wonder woman that I am, BUSTED the door open! And dd is standing there looking at me like I am nuts. So now I have to hide door pieces and hope I can fix it before dh finds out.

Oh, my sister did this to my grandmother when she was about 2 or 3. Grandma went on the back porch to shake out a rug, and my sister locked her out! She had to call the police, poor woman was outside in a robe and slippers!
When they got in, my sister had raided my grandmother's purse and was eating candy she had in it.
Glad to hear DD is fine!

That is too funny!
My cousin lives upstate and one day her daughter (4 years old at the time) tells her look mommy there is a bear in the driveway. So my picture crazy cousin goes out to take a picture (she had just moved there). Well her daughter locks the door. As she is yelling let me in, her daughter is like I can't mommy there is a bear I dont want it to get in the house...
Gotta love kids!
Good Luck fixing the door, I am impressed you busted in!

Jared did that to me with the front door. I stepped out to get the mail and click...
I didn't react like I was mad...I just told him nicely to unlock it. Meanwhile I was fuming and shaking inside.
I can't believe you busted the door in. Your adrenaline must have been pumping!!

OMG. How scary (and funny in a way too)!! I live in a high rise and when I take out the garbage (to the trash chute down the hall) I try to always remember to unlock the doorknob in case the door closes. That's always my biggest fear - that I'll be locked out and DD will be inside alone. Never underestimate the power of a mommy - she bust down doors!

Oh how scary! I locked my mother out of the house when I was about 2 years old. She's told me that story many times which is why I won't even step out to grab the mail without bringing my keys. My DD locked herself in her bedroom a few months ago (I was able to pry the door open pretty easily with no damage) & now I'm really scared of her locking me out!

My DH had the same thing happen to him when he went for the paper. Thank goodness she couldn't get it all the way locked, but my DH learned from that day forward to always bring his keys with him.
Hope Mike doesn't notice

Still doesn't make you a bad mom. Makes you a lucky one. Learning she can lock the door without anyone getting hurt.
I can't tell you how many times Maddie has locked herself in the bathroom. She is completely calm as we frantically say "turn the inside part." We have ONE bathroom. Locking it accidentally isn't an option.
Wonder Woman - Tah-Wee-Zah is her own little contractor. Get her tush over there pronto! She's looking for work to cover those daycare costs!
