OMG no one ever told me a kitten would deprive me of sleep
We got a kitten yesterday about 8-9 weeks old. We got her home and put her in a safe room. Every so often I would carry her out of the room and put her in the living room with stubs in teh dining room glaring. A few hisses and put them separate again. I think this is going to be a VERY LONG next few days if not weeks.
SO i am locked in my office/spare bedroom with new kitty we slept together which i never knew they liked to sleep on your neck and then she pooped right by my face because she was confused in the big bed. She had been going fine in her litter box (this little thing goes A LOT) now 6AM and wide awake DH gets to be in our bed with stubs nicely asleep while i take on screaming kitty.
Edit: I am glad we had taken vaca this week in order to do this otherwise i think we would had to buy a metal crate for her. She is getting into everything.
Hopefully have a name today - she is a cute little thing.
Not so pretty shots but its hard to deal with one hand on camera and one hand on kitten who is wildly moving around!

OMG she is SOOO beautiful! What a cutie!
She'll adjust fast- they always do. Soon you'll be sleeping through the night again! New kitties are like new babies I guess- they keep you up! But they are worth it !

ohhhhh
Our furbaby was smaller than this when we got him. He cried alot in the beginning.
My heart would break as I was leaving the house to go to work in the am I would hear the little cry
By the following week it was fine.

She's adorable ! Those eyes, like big peepers. I'm a sucker for silver colored cats - had two of them.

Re: OMG no one ever told me a kitten would deprive me of sleep
can anyone tell me if its okay to start leaving her alone for more then a hour so she gets to used to by the time we return to work on Monday? We either pay attention/play with her all the time or if she sleeps she goes on us except for one nap today where she was left alone.

Absolutely the kitten can be left alone for more than an hour. If she's in a safe place with access to her litter box, food, and water, she should be fine alone for longer periods of time.
If she is too small to jump off the bed and go find her litter box, though, don't have her sleeping in your bed. She will start to get confused about potty time...

Re: OMG no one ever told me a kitten would deprive me of sleep
thank you - i am getting a very tiny taste of motherhood. I just can't take the screaming/purr thing i don't know if she is happy or sad, or content. But she is getting into a sleeping pattern which is very nice. slept from 10PM-6AM which was a pleasure and had three 1 hour naps yesterday.
So far today stubby has charged at her to just get near her hiss but do nothing. She likes to paw at her but no actual nails are coming out. She is more or less only doing it at things that are strictly hers.
As far as in the bed and poop, yea first night we had a big blanket on the bed, she got confused and went poo in my face pretty much. Once I had taken the big blanket off she seems fine to get in and out.
I need as much advice, totally a novice with kittens.

You'll be fine. Kitties are amazingly self-sufficient. Food, water, litter, love, playtime, and slow socialization with Stubby and she will be great.
She is absolutely beautiful.
I'm sure she and Stubby will work out their differences and get along swimmingly soon.

Totally fine. Just confine her to a safe room for a while when you are not home. Make sure her food water and liter box are in that room and your other cat is not in that room. Cats are not like dogs- they can stay alone for several hours- even as babies. It's just safer if you can confine them to one room- so they dont' get into trouble romaing the whole house.

Re: OMG no one ever told me a kitten would deprive me of sleep
adorable!!!!
BTW, cats can be "trained" or at least, behavior reinforced. if you LIKE the kitty sleeping on your neck then encourage her to do that. if you don't like it now, stop her now.
(fwiw, my full grown 14 lb kitty sleeps on my pillow at night and snuggles me ~ almost every night. I love it but not everyone does, which is why kitty learned not to sleep on DH's pillow)

If the cat is doing happy feet on your neck, this is something that you can't really change.

Re: OMG no one ever told me a kitten would deprive me of sleep
a little update: its been all most a week (can not believe how time slips away) back to work today and she is left alone but I got up at 6:30 to let her run around and played with her until i had to get ready for work and leave at 8AM.
Stubby seems to have accepted her, where she went up to her face yesterday and gave her two licks and walked away. She still keeps her distance maybe because she knows she towers over her. I read to keep the kitten locked up during times we are away and at night until she reaches 16 weeks old (is this true?) I can't imagine doing this for another 7 1/2 more weeks.
(if pic shows: yesterday during nap time. Stubby was protecting this window for her dear life up to this moment when she sat down and they slept on opposite sides then she got up and gave kisses) Image Attachment(s):
